It is another moment again to look at how to export tables from autoCAD to Excel. I believe you have been working with AutoCAD by now, and do have the feel of how great things you can accomplish with it.
There are several reasons why you may want to create tables in AutoCAD. It all depends on what you want to use it for. From the general knowledge of data analysis, we use tables to represent data. It is not different when it comes to its use in AutoCAD.
A Practical example is given below:
You may want to extract the data of all the dimensions for every structural elements in your AutoCAD drawing. You do not just want these data to be only accessible from the autoCAD app; but to everyone else who has a spreadsheet package installed into their devices.
To achieve this, you will need to export it to Excel.
Excel is a great tool to analyse data properly. In Excel, you can format the data to your taste, and also properly represent it in a pictorial format.
In the next few minutes we will see how to how to export tables from autoCAD to Excel.

- Know how to insert or create tables in AutoCAD.
How to Export Tables from AutoCAD to Excel CSV Format
AutoCAD allows you to export tables (in the form of data). Tables generally have rows and columns. It also have the heading. This is the same thing when working with AutoCAD Table. From the requirements, the first thing to do is to create a table using AutoCAD. In the example I will be using, I have a list of structural elements with their respective dimensions.
#1. Create the tables using autocad. IN my case, the heading is Structural Elements. It has 4 rows and two columns.
#2. To Export the table, highlight the whole table, and then right-click on Export.
#3. An Export Data dialog box will appear prompting you to locate a place to save the file.
#4. Navigate to the folder you want to save the file into, give it any name you want, and click on Save. In my case, I have saved it Table1. That is the default name generated by the system. Note the Files of Type. It is usually in the CSV format.
#5. Locate where you saved the file, and open it.
NOTE: Table exported from AutoCAD does not retain its formatting which means cell color, merging of cells and border styles are not retained in .CSV format and after exporting you need to again add formatting to the table. The Excel default formatting will be used in this case. You will have to format the data to your taste using Excel. In my case, what I did was to Merge the cell containing the heading using the Excel Merge and centre tool; I also extended the columns to contain other cell contents of the table.
This way, you have successfully exported autoCAD tables to Excel CSV format.
Hope you have learnt something.
